TitleArrangement for the attack and Line of Battle, off Copenhagen
Description Famously the battle at which Nelson 'turned a blind eye' to Admiral Parker's order to withdraw, the line of battle for the Royal Navy is reproduced by Sir Thomas in this letter home. It explains the method of attack, and illustrates the positions of the Danish ships and batteries (1 to 24), the British line (26 to 37), bomb ships (45) and the position of Sir Parker's squadron (44). Nelson's ship HMS Elephant and Fremantle's ship HMS Ganges (nos 30 and 31 respectively) were placed beside one another at the centre of the line.
